Austin McInerny, PresidentAustin is a professional land-use planner and natural resource management mediator by training and currently works for the Center for Collaborative Policy. With a long history of both mountain bike and cyclocross racing, Austin is excited to be the director and head coach for the Berkeley High School Mountain Bike Team for the 2007 season. For the past two years, Austin has served as President of the Board of Directors and has also managed the USA Cycling Western Regional Development Camp held in Santa Cruz, California. |

Vanessa Hauswald, Vice PresidentVanessa Hauswald is a high school English teacher in Petaluma, California. She first found her love of cycling at the age of ten years old, following her father through the hills and valleys of Scotland on a bicycle. Eventually she attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where she found another love: mountain biking. This love of exploring the backcountry on a bike led her to travel and work for six years for Backroads Active Travel Co. as a tour leader/guide. She has “tested the legs” at a number of NORBA National races, and, of course, at the Sea Otter. For the past two years she has been developing and running the Casa Grande High School Bike Club; this year their team will join the League. Vanessa is deeply passionate about the environment, as well as empowering teenagers through the sport of mountain biking. |

Mark Kintz, TreasurerMark is a CPA in public practice in Monterey, and has served on a number of non-profit boards including Velo Club Monterey, and the Monterey Off-Road Cycling Association. He is an IMBA trained trail builder and a USCF certified coach with a racing background in cycling, running, and triathlon. His wife Patricia joins him as coach and ride leader for the Calvary Chapel team and the assortment of other League racers and middle-school riders training with the team. They live in Marina (Monterey County) next to Ft Ord and its nearby East Garrison and Sea Otter Classic trails. Their daughter Teresa (now in college) was a League racer, their son Nick (senior) will be racing his last (4th) League season, and they look forward to 2008 when little sister Katy (8th grade) will race as a freshman. |

Lauri AbrahamsenLauri is the mother of three teenage boys, of which her oldest is a member of the Albany High School Mountain Bike Team. Lauri has dabbled in road bike racing and is a recreational mountain bike enthusiast. She loves to run 10k and 12k races with her son and has a new found love of surfing. She is a partial owner of Keene Builders, Inc. a construction company in Albany and oversee's project management, finances and sales. Prior voluntary board experience includes, PTA president for two years, Board member of Everyday Magic, an afterschool program and a member of the school site council committee, whose job it was to review and delegate program funding. When she grows up she hopes to be a rally car race driver with her husband/navigator Tom! |

Nadine Wolf BudbillNadine is an avid mountain biker, educator, and advocate for women and girls. A former coach for the Berkeley High School mountain bike team, Nadine is now the League's Assistant Director. She is the founder and director of Full Cycle, an annual mountain bike and outdoor adventure camp for girls based in Northern Vermont. She is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Adventure Education from Prescott College. Nadine is experienced in program development, implementation and facilitation, having worked with a wide range of young people--pre-adolescents and teenagers, boys and girls, privileged and "at-risk," urban and rural-on many topics and issues-ranging from media literacy and violence-prevention to outdoor education. She is passionate about empowering others through mountain biking. |

Elayna CaldwellElayna has been involved in the cycling industry for over 10 years. She raced mountain bikes for many years in both cross-country and downhill disciplines. A supporter of mountain bike advocacy, Elayna would like to help the league foster and grow its mountain bike advocacy efforts. Her paying job is the Marketing Manager at FOX Racing Shox, and as such she sponsors and supports mountain bike racing and racers from the World Cup to slopestyle to juniors. |

Dan FreemanDan Freeman is currently the director of the Drake High School Mountain Bike Program where he has been teaching for over ten years. He founded the program in December of 2002 at the request of student. A graduate of St. Mary's College of California, he went on to earn a teaching degree and Master's at San Francisco State University. His entry to mountain biking came through his experience as a triathlete in the early nineties. He began racing mountain bikes in 1997, and then competed in adventure racing semi-professionally until 2002. With his wife Deanna, and two boys Aaron and Ben, he dreams of creating a youth cycling program that will be as common as any sport. |

Matt FritzingerAfter a short career in the Mechanical Engineering field (Graduated from UC Berkeley in 1995) Matt discovered teaching high school mathematics a more rewarding experience. Before long he also discovered that his cycling experiences (15 years road and mountain bike racing, 8 years working in bike shops, organizing local races) lent themselves to coaching, and formed the Berkeley High Mountain Bike Club. As the club grew Matt expanded his training to include becoming a Certified NORBA Expert Coach and also a Certified Wilderness First Responder. The success of the club eventually led to founding the NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League (2001). Now a credentialed teacher, Matt has been teaching for seven years and continues to teach Algebra to inner city kids part-time. |

Alex OsborneAlex was a successful road cyclist from the junior ranks to the senior ranks in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He was a member of the US National cycling team for three straight years while attending UC Berkeley. In 1984 he began a computer software career which culminated in the sale of a company he founded in 1995 in the year 2000. Alex serves as the leagues Secretary. He is extremely enthusiastic about youth cycling and the competitive drive and life lessons it fosters. |

Brian VaughanBrian is the President of GUsports, a sports nutrition company based in Berkeley, CA. Prior to this post, he spent six years working as a finance and management consultant in New York City. His passion for competitive sports started when he was a student at Berkeley High School and a member of the track and cross-country teams. An athlete most of his life, he started cycling seriously in the early 90’s and now focuses on endurance mountain biking—he loves the challenge of a 24 hour solo or 2-person team event. Brian spends as much time as he can exploring the hilltops and canyons of the Bay Area with his wife and three kids. His mission as a business owner and member of the cycling community is to increase the importance of athletics in our everyday lives. |
Luke WinterLuke Winter is Chief Granolagist and co-owner of Galaxy Granola, maker of great tasting, low fat granola, and sponsor of the NorCal HS Mtn Bike League. Before achieving Chief Granolagist status, Luke worked in finance and consulting in San Francisco and New York for Greenhill & Company, Lazard Freres, and McKinsey. Luke is an avid mountain biker, and lives in San Francisco with his wife and their son. |
