West Marin has long been considered one of the most idyllic places to ride a bike. Graced with breathtaking scenery, gorgeous roads and challenging but not overwhelming climbs, the Chileno Valley Cycling Classic exemplifies cycling in coastal Marin. The Chileno Valley Cycling Classic will be held on September 26, 2009 as a benefit for the NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League (about the League) . Myself and 99 other riders will take on the challenge of 40, 60 or 100 miles and raise funds in order to help sustain the League’s work which is funded entirely by grants, sponsors, individual donors, and special events (zero dollars from schools or government).

HELLO THERE!

This is a fun ride you should join. I signed up to do the 60 mile ride and hope to have a good time out there. The NorCal HS MTB league helped get bike programs started at Goethe and Burbank in Sacramento by donating time and gear. I want to help them get other kids into biking like how they helped me.

MY CONNECTION

I am on the LUTHER BURBANK HIGH SCHOOL BIKE TEAM. My coach told me about the program a few years ago and I have now been doing this sport for four years. I started out at the GREAT class/Bike Club at Goethe Middle School in Sacramento. Then when I got to high school, I helped the club at Burbank High School. I am now the Co-Captain of the team. WHY IT MATTERS

This sport is great for kids because it helps keeps kid out of trouble, and gives us something fun to do.
