The NorCal High School Cycling League’s annual Leaders’ Summit brings together coaches, assistant coaches, ride leaders, and parent volunteers—both new and experienced—to develop skills and knowledge, share strategies, and build community. This conference will promote a well-rounded approach to coaching that creates an environment in which high school students can grow and thrive. This is a great opportunity to spend a weekend in the company of peers and energize for the upcoming season.
Includes: morning coffee and catered lunch each day, Coaches’ Manual, conference materials and special discount pricing on First Aid Kits and Camelbaks. Registration does not include lodging.
8:30 – 5:00 September 6th (Saturday): Leadership and Coaching Seminars

Saturday seminars cover the core principles of working with high school student athletes in the context of a NorCal mountain bike team. Saturday’s seminars cover important knowledge all NorCal Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Ride Leaders should be aware of and integrate into their team programs. 8:30 – 4:00 September 7th (Sunday): MTB 101-Teaching Coaches How to Coach Skills
NICA’s MTB 101 class is taught by coaches who have been certified in the Lee Likes Bikes Training Method. This mountain bike skills curriculum was created by world renowned skills author and instructor Lee McCormack. As NICA’s skills development director, Lee licenses his teaching method to NICA to help student athletes across the United States ride more safely and have more fun. You will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. The majority of this clinic will be held outdoors, so please bring your bike and appropriate riding and safety gear for the weather.
