January 19, 2014 from 9:00-2:00

Location:

Kent Middle School
800 College Ave
Kentfield, CA 94904

$100 (includes lunch and Lee McCormack/NICA skills coaching manual)

NorCal’s MTB 101 class is taught by coaches who have been certified in the Lee Like Bikes Training Method. This mountain bike skills curriculum was created by world renowned skills author and instructor, Lee McCormack. As NICA’s official skills development director, Lee licenses his teaching method to our coaches who then use it to help student-athletes ride more safely and with more skill.

In the class, in addition to learning how to effectively teach technical skills to high school athletes, coaches will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, differentiated curriculum, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders.

This class is held outdoors, on your mountain bikes, so please bring your bike and appropriate riding and safety gear for the weather. We recommend people wear comfortable/casual riding clothing like baggies and a sweatshirt, as the class consists of a lot of stopping and starting and skills/drills, and not a lot of riding.Lastly, this course is designed for coaches of all levels, whether you are a beginner or professional cyclist, you will learn how to break down the essentials to your riders.
