Greetings NorCal League coaches! Thanks again for an incredible 2018 season. We hope you found your time coaching your high school mountain bike team to be both rewarding and inspiring. Now it’s time for you to have some fun! We are excited to announce that we will be hosting four, small Coach Retreats over the next four months, and it is our hope that you will be able to join us for one of them. The goals of these retreats are pretty simple: build community, do some great rides, share food and drink, and learn a bit, too. Coach Morgan Fletcher, our NorCal League Coach Mentor, and Head Coach of the Oakland Composite squad will be hosting each retreat.
So, you want in? Here’s the scoop. Arrive either Friday night or early Saturday morning and meet the rest of the good people who you’re hanging with for the weekend. Enjoy light breakfast on Saturday morning followed by 4 hours of skills teaching practice (this goes towards your PDU requirements for your coach license!). Coach Morgan will train you on the NICA On-the-Bike Skills Training 101 curriculum during the July & August sessions, and 201 in the September & October sessions. Have lunch and then head out on a sweet afternoon ride. In the evening, come back to camp and enjoy a group dinner, drinks, and campfire. On Sunday morning, pack up a sack lunch and head out for another great ride with your fellow coaches. Prefer to hike or swim or swing in your hammock instead? No problem! The weekend concludes around 3:00 on Sunday.
