This is a long post, folks!!
I know I haven't been posting too much recently because I have been swamped trying to figure out 2021 for the NorCal Family. We here at the NorCal League have been working tirelessly to come up with the best solution for everyone involved with the league. Today we got some encouraging news from the State and will get more in January 2021. Fingers crossed, everyone!!
Now for the meat of this email.
As everyone knows, we are in the midst of our virtual Cyclefest Fundraiser as an organization that caters to our future to our teenage youth would like to raise our funding to help more kids get on bikes. This is not your typical ask, but what I'm about to share with y'all is a story from a young man who has a different outlook on life because of the bike. This is one of many stories that I am privy to because I am directly involved with this transformation. My heart is full of love that teens like this have found a direction in life because of the work we do at the league office.

"I know I talk about this a lot but I would like to remind you guys how much Mountain Biking can change one's life. Personally, before I started mountain biking I was headed in a pretty bad mental direction, but after I learned how much it can influence people and help people both mentally and physically I came to understand how important it can be. Before I started mountain biking I kept my friend circle pretty small, I didn't socialize with others and I was pretty content with that. I settled with the fact that mountain biking is just a sport. But now at this point in my life, I can confidently say that mountain biking both changed my life forever and possibly saved me.
Through this sport, I have made so many connections and new friends. I have met some amazing people that I would now consider very close to me. And that's all through just hopping on a bike and riding.
It doesn't matter who you are or how "skilled" you are. It's a sport that everyone has a special connection to and from that you meet more and more people every day. It can almost get overwhelming.
In the past year or two, I have gone from working a job at grocery outlet to having most of my career that once seemed impossible to me planned out. But I would like to thank everyone that I have met through this lifestyle. I hope you know that your kindness and willingness to drive the middle of nowhere with me has truly changed my life and I can't thank you all enough for it.
Everyone who has read all of this and stuck through, thank you. Keep living your lives and just know that you all have helped one another. We all inspire each other and we will continue to do so and continue making connections to others day by day.
Life sucks. And I mean that nobody thinks it's just ideal. But just know that when it does get hard we can do one thing that time and time again will continue to give us a reason to keep pushing. We can ride our bikes.
So with that.
Go ride your freaking bike. "
Please take a look at our virtual fundraiser. If the items don't meet your need with auction items, please donate as it will always go to a student-athlete in need of a new bike, clothing, shoes, water bottles, warm clothing for riding in the winter. No amount is too little. Please help us change lives one student-athlete at a time. ... See MoreSee Less
