2018/2019 NorCal League Coaching Summit
November 17th – 18th, 2018
& January 12th-13th, 2019
The NorCal High School Cycling League’s Coaching Summit [formerly “Leaders’ Summit”] brings together coaches, parents, volunteers, and industry professionals to develop high school cycling coaching skill, share best practices, and build community. The Summit provides the professional development units (PDU) to obtain a Level 2 Coach license.
Classes cover the nuts and bolts of working with high school student-athletes in the context of a NICA mountain bike club, and provides coaches with the opportunity to learn from our facilitators, as well as to share their own best practices amongst their colleagues. The purpose of NICA Coach License Program is to provide comprehensive training to NICA coaches so that they are equipped to provide quality programming to NICA student-athletes that meet national standards and best practices and develops strong mind, body and character.
NICA license certification also aids in protecting volunteers and riders with insurance, as well as protect our youth with background checks. Obtaining a NICA license includes benefits beyond the knowledge that comes with the training and the insurance program. Thanks to our generous NICA sponsors, licensed volunteers enjoy a number of discounts and other perks. These benefits vary by license level and also by League, click here for more information.

MTB Skills for Coaches (Sunday)
This clinic offers coaches the opportunity to learn the progressive steps needed to teach anyone (even yourself) both basic and advanced mountain biking skills. You will also learn about experiential teaching techniques, how to accommodate different learning styles, and how to create a positive learning environment for young riders. The majority of this clinic will be held outdoors, so please bring your bike and appropriate riding and safety gear for the weather.
