Due to the popularity of our weekend coach retreats, this year we are hosting a “mega” retreat for the first 65 coaches to register. Join us in the beautiful Jackson State Forest for a weekend of great rides, food, and company! Earn CEUs, take MTB 101, attend workshops, or simply come for the awesome riding and camaraderie, it’s up to you. Lodging will be in shared tent cabins and all food, drink, professional development and entertainment are included in your registration fee.

The trails in Mendocino are incredible. You’re surrounded by fern gullies, massive redwoods, and some of the best loam known to mountain bikers. The woodlands offer trails for all skill levels, ranging from the beautiful nature trail that parallels the Little River, to classic runs on Endo, Oh-no and Boiler. 

We are thrilled to offer this retreat, which truly has something for everyone. The main focus of our Coach Retreats is for our fantastic coaches [you!] to get to know each other, have fun, ride bikes, and learn from one another’s experiences coaching interscholastic mtb teams; however, this retreat also offers many more opportunities. 

Our agenda will be roughly as follows:

Thursday 10/12: Arrive anytime after noon and check in to your shared tent cabin. We will be staying in Camp 3, which has 20 4-bed tent cabins, each with a wooden floor and canvas tent over a wooden frame, with 4 cots and mattresses in each. Tent cabins are clustered in 2 groups and have a toilet facility in each group. *If you want to do a group ride, please arrive by noon and be ready to ride by 2:00. Enjoy social hour, games, music, and dinner, followed by a cozy campfire. 

Friday and Saturday 10/13 & 10/14: On Friday and Saturday, we will have numerous activities for you to choose from. Friday morning, we’ll have Otis Guy hosting a CPR class. Start your day with an hour of morning yoga, followed by breakfast and a beautiful mtb ride. In the afternoon there will be options for you to participate in workshops, hit the river or ocean, brush up on your mechanic skills, explore Mendocino, have free time, and more. Each evening we will have social hours with entertainment, followed by family-style dinners in the main lodge at our camp. 

Sunday 10/15: Morning yoga and meditation, followed by a couple-hour ride, then pack up and make your way back home with a full heart, a host of new coaching skills, a bunch of CEUs, new friends, and Mendocino miles in your legs!
