Teen Trail Corps Ambassadors

What it means to be a TTC Ambassador:

The NorCal League is looking for student-athletes who are passionate about giving back to the trails and communities that make mountain biking possible! Our NorCal Teen Trail Corps (TTC) Ambassador Program is aimed at increasing participation in trail stewardship and advocacy while developing the next generation of young leaders in the cycling community. NorCal TTC Ambassadors are current NorCal League high school student-athletes who have raced for at least one season in the League and are enthusiastic about helping other student-athletes get involved in trail work, advocacy, and community service.

NorCal TTC Ambassadors are role models who organize and support Teen Trail Corps activities through trail work days, team outreach, advocacy opportunities, and more. Our ambassadors are the types of young people who encourage others to give back to the places they ride and find ways to make a positive impact in their communities. Working together to care for our trails and outdoor spaces builds leadership, teamwork, and a stronger connection to the places we love to ride. Ambassadors are always thinking about ways to increase participation in trail stewardship and advocacy, particularly by creating opportunities for student-athletes, teams, and communities across all four NorCal League regions to get involved.

TTC Ambassadors should be welcoming, positive, supportive, dependable, and passionate about trail building, cycling, and the outdoors. They should possess strong organizing and planning skills as well as excellent communication and leadership skills. Ambassadors should also be comfortable encouraging other student-athletes, teams, and community members to learn more about Teen Trail Corps and participate in trail work and advocacy. There will be ambassadors selected from each of our four regions. Be a part of the change and help the NorCal League increase participation, expand awareness, and develop the next generation of trail stewards and advocates!

TTC Ambassador expectations:

  • TTC ambassadorships will last for one full NorCal season (November 10th – June 1st). If you want to reapply to be a TTC Ambassador for a second season, you must do so between October 15th – 31st, which is the start of the pre-season.
  • Must have raced a minimum of one season with any NICA league and currently enrolled in high school.
  • Ambassadors must organize or support a minimum of 2 TTC activities per season. Ambassadors will sign up by November 30th to organize or support their activities of choice on their preferred date during the season. Activities may include trail work days, team stewardship projects, advocacy events, or other approved TTC activities. One activity should occur during preseason and one during race season.
  • A TTC Ambassador should commit to attending as many Teen Trail Corps opportunities as possible and encourage student-athletes and teams in their local area to participate. TTC Ambassadors may also be asked to attend and support NorCal League trail work days, community events, or other stewardship and advocacy opportunities.
  • TTC Ambassadors are expected to help increase awareness and participation in the TTC program. This may include encouraging teammates and coaches to participate in trail work, sharing upcoming opportunities, helping teams log their TTC hours, and promoting the importance of giving back to the trails and communities where we ride.
  • 1 post per TTC event that the ambassador has attended is required on the student-athlete’s personal or team social media account to help spread the word about the program. You can highlight a trail work day, summarize an advocacy event, share your team’s work, or talk about why giving back to the trails matters. We will leave the content up to you, but please be in your TTC Ambassador gear when possible in your photos and use the following hashtags: #TeenTrailCorps #TTC #NorCalMTB, and always tag @norcalleague.
  • Tag our sponsors in your social media NorCal TTC posts.
  • TTC Ambassadors are expected to uphold all NorCal/NICA rules and values.
  • Help create a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone participating in trail stewardship and advocacy, regardless of experience or ability.
  • Participating in group discussions may occur among all NorCal TTC Ambassadors to gain input, share ideas, and improve our program.
  • Attend and RSVP to ambassador Zoom meetings. Six of these will be scheduled during the season.
